Adult Formation

Most Sundays, except when we joyfully honor Sabbath in the summer, we gather at 9:30am in the parish hall for Adult Forums.  Sometimes the conversation  is facilitated by clergy. We are so not into lecture-based learning, but rather experience growth by listening for the wisdom each person has to offer.  If you prefer to listen and soak it all in quietly–that is fine too.  Oftentimes guests will provide a unique expertise and facilitate the conversation around that topic.

Recent programs include:

Science and Faith  with the Rev. Rob Morpeth

Being a Pastoral Presence with Rev. Malcolm Marler

The Book of Common Prayer as Entree into the Faith by Rev. Stan Wright.

Every fall we offer a Confirmation Class for those who are new to the Episcopal Church and those who desire a “refresher.”

Formation happens EVERYWHERE, not just at church or in church related functions.  The purpose of adult formation at Holy Spirit is to provide a community with whom to navigate the journey of faith–sometimes we are feeling solid in our connection to God, other times not so much, and sometimes not at all.  Looking for a place to be welcome no matter where you are on the spectrum?  Come–bring your questions, bring your certainties, bring your joys, and sorrows.  We try to meet one another where we are –open to being changed by each other.
