Deep Gratitude from Father Bill

Anne and I are most grateful for the wonderful sendoff you gave us December 30, 2018. The food, as always, was amazing and the fellowship, as always, was warm and fun. The paperweight with the image from the parish banner is lovely and is on my desk in my study. I’ll remember with fondness my time as your interim rector each time I see it. Know that we will miss you and think of you often. You are in our prayers and in our hearts.

I’m excited about the folks who will be supplying on Sundays over the next few months. Marti Holmes is the Archdeacon for Diocese of Alabama. She works with Bishop Sloan to coordinate the activities of the deacons of the diocese. Thomas Joyner is the Episcopal Campus Chaplain for UAB, Birmingham-Southern, and Samford. He is my successor in that ministry and, as I tell people all of the time, I couldn’t be happier about that if I’d picked him myself. Katie Rengers imagined and created an innovative way of being the church when she founded The Abbey, a coffee shop and worshiping community in Avondale. Stephen McWhorter, who’s retired now, founded a parish with a handful of families that grew into a large parish. These are interesting people who’ve done and/or doing important ministry. In addition to worshiping with them and one another you can learn a bit more about what’s going on in the diocese.

Blessings, prayers, and love sent your way always. Father Bill
