September 25, 2016 – Who is Outside Our Gate?

I have to admit, I find the troubles in our world overwhelming. I find a sense of dread when I listen to the news.

We were snapped out of our indifference and NOTICED the horrors of Aleppo when we were bombarded with pictures of Omran Daqneesh. A little boy with chubby arms and legs, wearing a cartoon t-shirt, “bloodied and covered with dust, sitting silently in an ambulance awaiting help…”

As difficult as it is to look upon this shocked little boy, in the parable of Lazarus and the rich man, Jesus calls us not to turn away and to NOTICE those who are suffering.
