The Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit

About

The Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit in Alabaster, Alabama, is a member of the Episcopal Diocese of Alabama, the national Episcopal Church, and the worldwide Anglican Communion. Worship is at the center of our life together.

Empowered by the Holy Spirit through Word and Sacrament, we seek to know the reconciling love of God and to share that love with all people. The Resurrection of Christ is our North Star and directly impacts how we interact we one another and the world the around us. Wherever you may be on your journey of Faith, know that you are welcome at Holy Spirit.

In a world where we are all over-burdened, over-scheduled, and downright tired, The Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit stands with our doors wide open as a place where you can find your rest in God’s ever-reaching and never-ending love.

“For our hearts are not at rest until they rest in thee…” – Saint Augustine

Ministries

“Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of services, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who activates all of them in everyone.” (1 Corinthians 12:4-6)
At the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit, there are many different ways to serve and get connected. Our ministries are divided into three main categories: Serving One Another, Serving in Worship, and Serving the World. Michael Savela

Staff Accompanist

Michael Savela was born in December of 1986 to Edward and Diane Savela.  At birth, Michael was diagnosed with End Stage Renal Disease. Meaning, he had virtually no kidney function and was likely to die in just a few months following birth.  Nevertheless, after dialysis, two kidney transplants, 20 surgeries, nearly 800 nights in the hospital, and most importantlythe grace of God, Michael has overcome these and many other adversities. He now lives an active, thriving and fulfilling life. What God did not give him – functional kidneys – He blessed him in other ways. God gave Michael the gift of music, and a talent for motivating others to overcome adversity.
